Am I limited to connecting with people only within a certain area (i.e. city, state, country, region, 50 mile radius from my church, etc.)?

No.  You can connect with anybody anywhere in the world.  It would be up to you and the other person(s) to arrange for the proper and appropriate transportation, mailing, or communication services.  When posting, you are directed to indicate your general physical location (i.e. church, city and state, etc.) so that others who see your post will be aware of any special arrangements that may need to take place in order to connect with you.  *IMPORTANT NOTE: Also see FAQ #9
